Assistant City Manager Cinnamon McCulley said this isn’t the city’s first attempt to build a pedestrian bridge. Officer Jerry Hughes-Karrh said he is currently in kidney failure. Without a new kidney, his condition is fatal. VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WIAT) -- People in Vestavia Hills will head to the polls for a special election Tuesday. They’re voting on a 9.8% property tax increase that would go to the city’s school system. If the new tax is voted in, superintendent Todd Freeman said their vision is to strengthen academic opportunities and invest in facility renovations. VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WIAT) — Authorities arrested a Vestavia Hills doctor for producing and possessing child pornography. Dr. Ronald Tai Young Moon Jr. was taken into custody Tuesday for his role in producing child porn sometime between 2007 and 2010 and possessing child porn around January 15 of this year. VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WIAT) — The council members for the city of Vestavia Hills have been working for years to get an underground pedestrian tunnel project approved. Monday’s council meeting was one of the last before the ground-breaking. CBS 42’s Malique Rankin was there.
