I had a conversation with Aaron Kirunda the face behind enjuba. At what point did you start paying attention to life? Must have been around secondary school. How was secondary school life, Aaron? Humble. I went to Kakira for secondary school which was supposed to be temporary for like two years but couldn’t afford to go anywhere else and stayed for 4 years. I went to Kakira High School, a poor man’s school. There was another estate school but I could not make it there. At my school, it was a requirement to bring your own chair where you would sit. Every student had to come with their own chair ..read more

by David Kangye

In their famous book, The ONE Thing, authors Gary Keller and Jay Papasan argue that focus is a matter of deciding what things you’re NOT going to do.” You can only know what you are not doing once you know what you are doing. Dr Sam Mayanja knows what he is doing when he talks about land. In the first 109 pages of this book, there is a healthy mention of the word land at least once for every two paragraphs. That is how much Dr Sam Mayanja’s interest in matters of land is hard to miss out on.   You cannot avoid the land question irrespective of who you are. Land is pivotal to every ci ..read more

Random Beautiful Places of Uganda

I have been on the road recently running around Uganda. My eyes saw very unique features I would like to share about. The Hat at Acholi Inn It is a big round hut with thick step thatch, an architectural design unique to the Acholi sub region of Northern Uganda. This hat was very instrumental for the peace negotiations during the LRA War that went on in the 90s and early. The open conference hat sits under the umbrella foliage that is the old age of trees surrounded by a large green compound. This is without a doubt a place of peace.  The Tower of Coffee Beans Most of the major regional ..read more

On a hot afternoon when Arua is boiling with trade and business, the roads are busy with trucks driving past hither and thither to Kampala and to other markets. Arua is the intersection of trade for Uganda, South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo. Hundreds of boda boda riders cruise past. Here time is of the essence. The world passes by so fast if you just watch. Pedestrian traders comb the streets as differently branded Land Cruisers raise dust to arrive yet in time in another community. This is not your usual location for aid and things like that. Here everything is business. The previo ..read more
