SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) — A 43-year-old Oakland man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in the hit-and-run death of a Monarch Bay Golf Course worker who was fatally struck while he was riding a lawnmower. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office filed charges Thursday against Jason McDermott for negligent vehicular manslaughter, hit and run with injuries and other counts after the employee succumbed to his injuries. SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) — The City of San Leandro said Tuesday it would defend itself against a lawsuit filed by the estate of Steven Taylor, killed by a San Leandro police officer inside a Walmart in 2020. The lawsuit was filed on April 15 and seeks $10 million in damages from the city for the death of Taylor who was shot by Officer Jason Fletcher at the Hesperian Blvd. Walmart on April 18, 2020. According to a statement from the Fremont Police Department, suspect Joshua Moss-Sanders is wanted for armed robberies in Fremont and San Leandro.
