HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA) – A pursuit involving a U-Haul pickup truck early Friday morning in Hacienda Heights ended with authorities deploying tear gas and flashbangs.

The incident began at about 3 a.m. West Covina police officers began pursuing a U-Haul truck. It’s unclear what prompted the chase.

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – A man was killed and a woman was critically wounded in a shooting in Hacienda Heights early Thursday morning.
Just before 1 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of gunshots in the 3300 block of Turnbull Canyon Road to find a man dead at the scene. He was not immediately identified.
A woman was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, a sheriff’s spokesperson told CBSLA.

HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA) – A man was shot and killed outside a gas station in Hacienda Heights late Sunday night.

The shooting occurred outside an ampm in the 17100 block of Colima Road.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 11:42 p.m. to find a man dead at the scene from at least one gunshot wound. He was not immediately identified.
Two suspects, described as Hispanic males, were last seen driving west on Colima Boulevard away from the crime scene in a blue Hyundai Sonata, the sheriff’s department said.

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a string of crimes in Hacienda Heights, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.
Manuel Soto, 22, was arrested May 8 and has been charged in connection with a series of crimes reported in Hacienda Heights. (LASD)

HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA) – Authorities are searching for a man who broke into a Hacienda Heights home last weekend and sexually assaulted an elderly woman sleeping inside.
The attack occurred in the 1300 block of Kwis Avenue between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators said the man broke into through a window, woke up a 79-year-old woman before sexually assaulting her. The victim then contacted a family member, who called 911.

HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA) — Parents of students at Wedgeworth Elementary School in Hacienda Heights say the conditions of the campus are unacceptable and that some school board members have made anti-Asian statements.
Parents say the school, which consists of only portable trailers, is severely underfunded compared to other schools in the district.
They say the campus has only four restrooms for 600 students, there’s no kitchen or cafeteria, and very little playground space.
