At least one Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy opened fire and killed a man who had apparently fatally stabbed his father in Hacienda Heights Monday morning, officials said. The shooting in the 16700 block of Dawn Haven Road occurred around 5:30 a.m. after deputies responded to a reported assault, according to Lt. Hiraka and a press release from the LASD. Video captured the terrifying moment a woman was dragged across the ground by a purse snatcher in Los Angeles County's Hacienda Heights neighborhood. The violent robbery happened Monday afternoon outside a Bank of America on Azusa Avenue and Pepper Brook Way. Authorities are investigating the death of an auxiliary bishop with the Roman Catholic Church who was shot to death in Hacienda Heights on Saturday afternoon. Bishop David O’Connell, 69, of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles was found dead inside his home in the 1500 block of Janlu Ave. just before 1 p.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. A mother and her boyfriend were sentenced in the death of 9-year-old Trinity Love Jones, whose body was found in a duffel bag in Hacienda Heights three years ago, authorities said Tuesday. A powerful summer storm brought thunder, rain and an intense lightning show to parts of Southern California late Thursday and early Friday.
