A driver was charged Thursday with killing a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s recruit and injuring other recruits after driving the wrong way and plowing into a group of them in South Whittier last year. Twenty-five people were injured in the crash. One later died and nine others suffered serious injuries. A Diamond Bar man pleaded guilty on Thursday, Oct. 26, to a federal criminal civil rights charge for disrupting a “Stop Asian Hate” rally in March 2021 when he ran a red light and drove through a crowded crosswalk of peaceful demonstrators as he shouted racial slurs. DIAMOND BAR — County authorities identified a man Wednesday who was killed in a collision with a big rig while riding a motorcycle on the 57 Freeway. The collision was reported at 1:46 a.m. Tuesday, and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the southbound freeway at Sunset Crossing Road, where they found the motorcyclist, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service. A Diamond Bar man was sentenced Thursday to 21 months in federal prison for intentionally touching the inner thigh of a sleeping woman seated next to him on a flight from Cleveland to Los Angeles in February 2020. Mohammad Ansari, 50, was also ordered to pay a $33,750 fine, $1,600 in restitution, a $100 special assessment and an additional $5,000 special assessment.
