WOBURN (CBS) – The driver accused in a deadly Woburn hit-and-run last week made his first appearance in court on Monday. Police said 57-year-old Elmer Coreas hit and killed 70-year-old John McGuinness of Woburn Thursday night on Montvale Ave. and then drove off. Officers said they were able to identify and follow car fluids from the scene of the crash to an apartment building where the car was parked. They later identified Coreas as the alleged driver. WOBURN (CBS) — Police have made an arrest after a man was hit and killed by a car in Woburn on Thursday night. Elmer Coreas, 57, of Woburn, was charged with leaving the scene of personal injury and death. Woburn Police and Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan say Coreas hit John McGuinness, 70, of Woburn and drove off. WOBURN (CBS) — A fire at a Logan Express parking lot in Woburn Monday morning caused damage to several nearby cars. A spokesperson for Massport told WBZ-TV the fire happened at about 7 a.m. on Atlantic Avenue. Video showed flames and black smoke coming out of one vehicle. No injuries were reported, but Massport said the fire damaged five other vehicles in the area. When crews arrived on scene, several cars were on fire. “Quick work by the firefighters prevented more vehicles from becoming involved,” the Woburn Fire Department said in a statement. LYNN (CBS) – Emotions ran high as Bruce Maiben, the boyfriend of Sherell Pringle, briefly faced a judge in Lynn on Thursday. Five days after Pringle went missing, and two days after her body was found, the Woburn woman’s family and friends are still pleading for answers. Maiben is not charged with Pringle’s death.
