I confess: I have the best husband in the world! He knows me soo well haha! For my Birthday this year (Yup, I turned the big 50) he gifted me photography session at Wolf Hollow in Ipswich, MA – a dream come true morning of photographing wolves! My Birthday was February 3rd. I was wishing for snow on a day that I scheduled my wolf session. Not a flake in the forecast … the rest of the winter. This winter was definitely a bust. So I picked a random March morning and hoped for at least cooler temps, for the sake of the wolves enjoying a cool day. napping wolf About Wolf Hollow is a non profit wol ..read more

Today I received a heartwarming love letter from my soul dog, Kota. I smiled. It’s been just over a year and a half since saying “see you later” to my best friend. Thank you, Kota. My soul dog, Kota, the evening before she passed Dear Mom, I miss you. I love you. I’m doing good! I’m with you all the time. Every day. Every moment. I’m right behind your left shoulder and I know you can feel my presence sometimes. I know you weren’t sure if you would ever be able to pick up a camera again after I left you. When you did, it was all that you could do. I’m happy you continue to do what you love. I’m ..read more

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Don’t wait for flowers or chocolates – get out there and adopt your furry Valentine. I came across a few cuties who might check off the boxes and be your perfect match. These beauties are available to adopt at the Salem Animal Rescue League in Salem, NH. A beautiful portrait of an adoptable animal helps them be seen and in turn, helps them find a forever home. I love when I’m able to carve some time in my schedule to visit a local shelter and photograph adoptable animals for their websites or petfinder. My friend, Danielle, who used to assist me when ..read more

The holidays are hard after loss. I’d like to say they get easier as time goes by, but I haven’t felt that yet. It’s been 16 months since I said goodbye to my heart dog, Kota, and it still feels like yesterday she was with me. I can’t even tell you the number of times I mistakenly call our current pup, Halo, “Kota”. Last December I decided that every year I would have an ornament made that would memorialize and honor Kota in some way. This is now my tradition. Depending on how long I live, I may soon have an entire tree dedicated to Kota! Significance of Memorial Ornaments While Kota was livin ..read more

Photographing Dogs in Iceland: Magical. Magnificent. Wondrous. Captivating. Perfect. Surreal. Inspiring. Epic. I could go on and on defining the inspiring experience I had this past September while photographing dogs in Iceland. It was truly an epic adventure! Renewing Inspiration After saying goodbye to my heart dog, Kota, just last year, I felt depleted. I know Kota is behind my shoulder each and every time I pick up the camera. But something was missing. I needed some spark. Some magic. I needed to be inspired. And as Oregon pet photographer Lindsay Baca would say, “I needed to be dazzled ..read more

5 Ways to Deal with the Guilt of Leaving Your Dog Home Alone
Pant the Town

The first time you leave your dog home alone is stressful. I remember when I first left Halo, our Husky, home alone. The rescue let us know that Halo was crate trained, so I knew she would be ok in the crate. But… I left a bed in there with her and I had no idea if she would tear it to shreds. And then there was the thought of her swallowing the pieces of bedding or stuffing. Yes, our minds wander and we seem to always think the worst! The “what if’s” keep scrolling through our heads. Now that we’re in the post-pandemic era and many people have returned to their offices and to a somewhat “norm ..read more
