A teen boy was hospitalized after he allegedly injured himself while operating a drone at the Dania Beach Fishing Pier on Sunday, according to BSO. Deputies responded to the scene around 9:00 a.m. where they found the 14-year-old boy with multiple lacerations. Deputies learned that the teen had been operating a commercial-style drone when he was injured by its propeller blades, BSO stated. A father drowned while trying to rescue his son from a strong rip current off Dania Beach Sunday evening, officials said. Deputies responded to the area of 50 North Beach Road shortly after 6 p.m. after receiving reports of a possible drowning, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said. Fire rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard and two off-duty Hollywood lifeguards also responded and learned that three people, including at least one juvenile, had been struggling in a rip current. According to a statement by the BSO, deputies received a report of a crash involving a Brightline Train and a pedestrian shortly after 8:00 AM on Sunday in West Dania Beach Boulevard and Southwest Fourth Avenue in Dania Beach. Broward Sheriff’s Officer Fire Rescue firefighters rescued a pelican that was caught in a fishing line and was having difficulty trying to stay afloat on Saturday in Dania Beach. According to a statement by the BSFR, a crew patrolling Dania Beach noticed the pelican in the water having trouble. Firefighters say they were able to bring the pelican onto their boat and carefully remove the fishing line. Deputies are investigating after a 1-year-old boy was found wandering alone in Dania Beach Monday morning. The child was found around 10:45 a.m. in the 200 block of Southwest 2nd Terrace, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said. Footage showed the child in the arms of a deputy outside a laundromat. One woman is dead and a man is injured after a double shooting at an intersection in Dania Beach on Friday night. According to a press release by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the two victims were sitting at a red light at the corner of Southwest 112th Avenue and Stirling Road, when another car pulled up and began shooting at them. The first shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. in Miramar in the 6600 block of Southwest 26th Street. Deputies in Dania Beach tried to take a man into custody Monday when he ran off and climbed into a tree, authorities said. The suspect has since been identified as Christian Cisnero, 26.
