MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist on Thursday morning. Police said it happened shortly before 9:30 a.m in the area of US 1 and Griffin Road. When BSO deputies and BSO Fire Rescue responded to the scene they found a male lying on the northbound side of US 1, along with a motorcycle on its side. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – On a breezy late Wednesday morning on Dania Beach, there was a wind-aided return to the wild. “Today we’re releasing eight pelicans, which is awesome”, said Jordan Wheatley with the South Florida Wildlife Center. The group captures or takes in sick and injured animals, they then nurse them back to health. It took just a few seconds after the cage doors were opened for the eight beautiful brown pelicans to take flight. They live in an unlikely part of Broward county and one group thinks it’s dangerous for them, so they are working to find them a safer home. “I heard about it, but I didn’t think it was true!” exclaimed John Smith. “They’re cute,” added retired Hollywood Police Officer Otis Haney. MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Six people were hospitalized Saturday morning following an explosion at a Dania Beach marina. Authorities said those injured suffered second-degree burns to the upper and lower extremities. They were transported to Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale and are in stable condition. DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami) – One person was killed and two others were injured following a nasty crash in Dania Beach on Monday. It happened before noon in the 2200 block of Griffin Road. According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, a vehicle with three people inside, hit a pole and caught on fire. One person inside the car pronounced dead at the scene. FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – The pilot of a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing beachside at a state park in Dania Beach. The single-engine Cessna 172 touched down in the sand at Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park, just north of the Dania Beach Pier. A small crowd of curious beachgoers moved in for a closer look. Chopper4 over the scene found the plane was upright and intact with its wheels dug into the sand. While conducting a search warrant on December 7 in Dania Beach, police seized three semi-automatic loaded firearms with ammunition, 21.4 pounds of cannabis packaged for sale and 24 full bottles of promethazine syrup.
