MEDFORD (CBS) – A driver was pulled from the burning wreckage of an SUV early Friday morning after a violent crash ended in a front yard in Medford. The SUV hit a tree on Lawrence Road around midnight and then a house before breaking apart into several pieces and bursting into flames. SOMERVILLE (CBS) – Chenghai Xue, the man charged with killing his nephew in a courthouse parking lot, will be arraigned Friday for murder. According to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Xue was at the Cambridge District Courthouse in Medford Thursday afternoon to get an extension of a restraining order against his 23-year-old nephew. MEDFORD (CBS) – A person was killed and a suspect is in custody following a shooting outside of a Medford courthouse. It happened around 5 p.m. on Thursday near the courthouse on Mystic Valley Parkway. A body was visible on the ground next to a car in the parking lot. MEDFORD (CBS) — A California man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly making threats to Tufts University police last year. Sammy Sultan, 48, of Hayward, Calif., was arrested in California and will appear in a Boston court at a later date. According to prosecutors, on or about May 28, 2021, Sultan made eight calls to Tufts University police, which collectively lasted about an hour. Police said it happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Harvard Street as the 22-year-old victim and her boyfriend were stepping out of the car.
