Looking for incredible TV shows to watch this year, here is a list of 30 of my favourite shows that will leave you entertained, relaxed and happy to be alive and surviving a global pandemic 30 The Handmaids tale If you are into dystopian shows, and shows that address gender issues, then you will like the handmaids tale. It can be a difficult watch sometimes as it explores hard, triggering issues. So it falls as number 30 on this list. 29 The marvellous Mrs Maisel This is definitely a light, funny and fabulous watch that will entertain you and your feminine sides, if you are not into shows th ..read more

All behaviour is learned, but not all learned behaviours are good, or even helpful – Egheosa R Owie Hello and welcome to another chapter in Raven’s Odyssey. The topic today is unlearning and relearning. I can’t be the only one who has realised at different points in their life, that they have acquired some unhealthy/unhelpful behaviours, attitudes and beliefs, which does more harm than good in their life. With the current pandemic, more and more people are realising the importance of unlearning negative behaviours and relearning more positive behaviours. I have been on this journey, since I ..read more

Hi Everyone, people always ask me what to use to prepare for medical school. So here are a list of books I used to prepare for my interviews when I applied for Medicine and Graduate Entry Medicine. My highly recommended books are: When Breath Becomes Air – Paul Kalanithi Easily the most beautiful, soulful, heartwarming and heart-wrenching book about medicine and life as a doctor that I have ever read. On dealing with Self-doubt?

“Don’t let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game” I remember hearing that quote in a Cinderella story and it hit me deep. I was a young teenager – I can’t even remember how old, but I do remember that it was the first time I confronted and accepted the fact that I had been letting fear hold me back in many areas of my life. Fear of failing, fear of embarrassing myself, fear of exposing to the world that I had no idea what I was doing, but knew this was what I wanted. I resolved to not let fear hold me back again, and it was around that time that I set myself out on the path ..read more

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all home and staying safe from #COVID19. I am writing this list as much for myself, as I am for you. As someone who has lived alone for over 10 years, an introvert and proud homebody, I know a lot about being productive and entertaining yourself whilst you’re at home. So I wrote this quick list for anyone wondering what to do while Self-isolating or living in a country on lockdown. 10) Create: I have to start with the obvious. But i am sure there are many of you out there who are creative in some way or another. Love writing? create a blog and start writing. Love mak ..read more

It’s April 5th, 2020, a month after my birthday, and I have just completed my third week of Self-isolation. Don’t worry I don’t have #covid19. I don’t want to even talk about that now because we are all so aware of it, the many lives it has taken, and the ways it has upended our society, and our lives for a seemingly long time. I just pray for the people that have been lost to this disease and I hope everyone is staying home, safe and healthy. Being at LSE for the past year, specialising in population studies and studying health and international development, has massively improved my understa ..read more

Saving Money: Tips and Tricks
Raven's Odyssey

Hello and welcome to my blog. Happy New Year! This past year has been incredible for me, and I have been able to go on more trips than ever. This has solely been due to the fact, that for the last 10 years, since I was 15, I have saved a percentage of any money I earn. I have been doing this for many reasons, but the summary is life throws you curveballs and I like to be prepared. When I discovered my love, and need to travel at least once a year, due to many years of living in London, with depleting vitamin D levels, my savings became my golden parachute and allowed me to access a new world ..read more

Aquila Safari, a wonderful taste of the Western Cape
Raven's Odyssey

I had never been on a Safari before, and so, i had no idea what to expect. But as a first Safari, I have to say that Aquila safari exceeded all expectations. The Safari cost around 2100 rands (about £113), including transport from Stellenbosch. As the trip was organized by The programme director of the Summer School at Stellenbosch University which I was attending, we all had to get up early for the roughly 2 hour long drive from Stellenbosch to the Aquila Game reserve However seeing the beautiful South African sunrise made all that worth it One thing I have appreciated about being in South ..read more

In 2016, i became really unwell. So unwell that I eventually had to interrupt my studies from medical school shortly after starting, and take a much needed break (if I’m being honest). I was burnt out after a 3 year undergrad, and diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (don’t worry, I got used to it and it’s getting better), and i had to actively learn effective ways to reduce my stress levels. One of which I realised was travelling. My Very Low Vitamin D levels were another great indicator that I definitely needed to get out of London. I spent a few months at home in Nigeria, and on my retur ..read more
