INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Central Indiana residents plagued by seasonal allergies can look forward to some relief as showers are forecasted to temper the high tree pollen counts that have been causing discomfort. According to the latest updates from StormTrack 8, rainfall expected in the coming days is likely to wash away some of the airborne allergens that have been particularly dense this season. Current pollen tracking has indicated that tree pollen levels, primarily from maple, ash, and oak, are at a heightened level, posing a challenge for allergy sufferers. These tree types are known for th ..read more

by WHITNEY DOWNARD, Indiana Capital Chronicle

(INDIANA CAPITAL CHRONICLE) — In a politically charged and, at times, inflammatory Facebook event, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita waded into a recent discussion on pronouns in the workplace. Earlier this week, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled that repeatedly misgendering an employee or denying them access to a bathroom consistent with their gender identity amounts to workplace harassment. Rokita issued a ruling of his own Wednesday, saying that “neither state nor federal law requires a coworker to use the preferred pronouns and names of fellow employees ..read more

(INDIANA CAPITAL CHRONICLE) — Decades ago, when Kenneth Dau-Schimdt first started teaching about labor and employment law, he said noncompete agreements weren’t all that common. But over time, as their use has grown, so too has the scrutiny of the practice, which now extends beyond specialized positions down to employees at sandwich shops. State lawmakers have been wrestling with the agreements for several years. And now a “huge” ruling from the Federal Trade Commission could ban the use of noncompetes for all but the highest earners if it survives legal scrutiny. Doing so would redu ..read more

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Summer-like temps settle in today. Unsettled pattern moves in Friday. This morning: We’re starting the morning off very mild and quiet, with mainly clear skies across central Indiana. Thursday: Much of the day should be dry, with mostly sunny skies this morning. Partly cloudy skies will build as we head into the afternoon, and temperatures will warm quickly. I don’t want to rule out a stray, shower, or thunderstorm late in the day, but I do think they’ll be few and far between. Highs will top out into the mid-80s this afternoon. Today’s record high is 87, set in 1959.&nb ..read more
