The City of Beckley will accept new orders for Hometown Hero Banners during the month of February 2024. The city first offered the program in 2022, with 94 banners order over the past two years. The banners are displayed on downtown light poles between April and November each year.  The banners are taken down after the Veterans parade for Christmas decorations; the banners are stored for the winter months. The Farmers Market located at the Beckley Intermodal Gateway Plaza will open for the 2023 season on Monday, July 17. Market vendors will set up at the covered plaza area on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and sell from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The market will be open from July 17 through the months of August and September. The City of Beckley is kicking off its 2023 spring events with the 3rd annual Coffee & Tea Celebration on Saturday, April 22, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The City of Beckley will celebrate an Irish / Celtic Heritage themed week on March 11–17, with a variety of activities from road bowling to a concert, food specials, and a painting class.  On Saturday, March 11 (rain date 3/18), an Irish Road Bowling demonstration will take place on the McManus Trail.
