(HARTFORD)— The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the City of Meriden today celebrated the successful launch of “Making Meriden Green,” a first-of-its-kind municipal food scrap co-collection pilot program that the city kicked off last month.
The pilot, funded through a $40,000 DEEP Save Money and Reduce Trash (SMART) grant, began in early February and has already collected 5,600 pounds (2.5 tons) of food scrap from participating households. Influenza (flu) vaccine is now available through the Meriden Department of Health and Human Services.
A flu clinic for Meriden seniors will be held on Wednesday, September 29, from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Meriden Senior Center, 22 West Main Street. Parking is on Hanover Street (rear of building). Appointments are required for this clinic; please call the Meriden Senior Center at 203-237-0066.

MERIDEN- The City of Meriden and the Department of Health and Human Services strongly recommends all residents and visitors to our community to wear masks when conducting business in indoor settings, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not.
