Stan County EOD technicians are currently on-scene investigating a suspicious device located in the 4500 block of E Redwood Rd in unincorporated Ceres. CERES (CBS13) — A 16-year-old boy was arrested for being in possession of a gun on campus and several other charges. According to a press release from Ceres Police, on Monday at 12:35 p.m., Central Valley High School staff contacted a School Resource Officer to report a possible gang fight involving a gun. An investigation involving multiple interviews with students led to the discovery of a photo of a handgun that looked like it was taken in the bathroom. CERES (CBS13) — A Newman man is under arrest on suspicion of groping children inside Ceres stores. The Ceres Police Department says they started investigating the case back in February after they got a report about a child being touched inappropriately at a store. Investigators soon identified the suspect and linked him to at least five other similar incidents across Ceres. CERES (CBS13) — Several people were detained and at least one person is in custody after shots were fired near a Ceres intersection, authorities said Friday night. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy heading into work heard several gun shots and took unprovoked gunfire at around 7 p.m. near Central Avenue and Service Road. CERES (CBS13) — A person suspected of illegally dumping trash in rural Ceres was caught in the act by officers Tuesday night. Ceres police say an alert resident spotted the suspect dumping some trash along the side of a road. Officers were able to get to the scene in time to catch the suspect in the act. CERES (CBS13) – A Fair Oaks woman has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after a crash in Ceres left two people dead over the weekend. Ceres police say, just before 8 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of W. Whitmore Avenue and Crows Landing Road. Two vehicles, a pickup truck and sedan, were involved and both had major damage. Officers believe pickup truck driver ran through a red light at the intersection and then crashed into the sedan.
