Stan County EOD technicians are currently on-scene investigating a suspicious device located in the 4500 block of E Redwood Rd in unincorporated Ceres. CERES (CBS13) — A 16-year-old boy was arrested for being in possession of a gun on campus and several other charges. According to a press release from Ceres Police, on Monday at 12:35 p.m., Central Valley High School staff contacted a School Resource Officer to report a possible gang fight involving a gun. An investigation involving multiple interviews with students led to the discovery of a photo of a handgun that looked like it was taken in the bathroom. CERES (CBS13) — A Newman man is under arrest on suspicion of groping children inside Ceres stores. The Ceres Police Department says they started investigating the case back in February after they got a report about a child being touched inappropriately at a store. Investigators soon identified the suspect and linked him to at least five other similar incidents across Ceres. Police say the suspect, 24-year-old Victor Estrella, allegedly tried to lure a child away from their parents in one of the other incidents. CERES (CBS13) — Several people were detained and at least one person is in custody after shots were fired near a Ceres intersection, authorities said Friday night. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy heading into work heard several gun shots and took unprovoked gunfire at around 7 p.m. near Central Avenue and Service Road. However, no one was struck by gunfire, but eight people in total were detained by authorities. CERES (CBS13) — A person suspected of illegally dumping trash in rural Ceres was caught in the act by officers Tuesday night. Ceres police say an alert resident spotted the suspect dumping some trash along the side of a road. Officers were able to get to the scene in time to catch the suspect in the act. Police say officers then stood by as the suspect cleaned up the trash he had just dumped. The suspect is still possibly facing charges. The fire appears to have started between two homes, then quickly spread to both of their attics. CERES (CBS13) — A man suspected of trying to steal a delivery truck at Ceres grocery store has been arrested after he also allegedly attacked employees with a 2×4. Ceres police say, just after 7 a.m. Monday, 26-year-old Lucas Lee went to the loading dock area behind the Whitmore Avenue Save Mart and allegedly tried to take off with a delivery truck. Someone confronted Lee, prompting him to get a 2×4 with screws sticking out. Lee then allegedly started swinging the board at the person. CERES (CBS13) — A police investigation is taking place near E Whitmore Avenue and Blaker Road so residents are advised to utilize alternate routes. According to officers, they are investigating a traffic collision that took place after pursuing a vehicle. The driver and occupants of the vehicle were wanted for questioning in a prior violent felony from earlier this year by the Modesto Police Department. CERES (CBS13) – A Fair Oaks woman has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after a crash in Ceres left two people dead over the weekend. Ceres police say, just before 8 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of W. Whitmore Avenue and Crows Landing Road. Two vehicles, a pickup truck and sedan, were involved and both had major damage. Officers believe pickup truck driver ran through a red light at the intersection and then crashed into the sedan.
