Getting cuts and damage to your feet or hands could lead to amputation if you don’t take your medications and keep your feet and hands in top shape. I’m a bit attached to my parts and prefer it stays this way ..read more

These photos were taken last year when my sister came to visit me, the location is inside the Red Rock Canyon loop, a 12-mile drive that includes a stop at Red Rock Canyon proper. Sunny and 77 degrees today, that’s around thirty degrees cooler than it was a few days ago ..read more

A Tower Of Power?
Las Vegas Photo Blog

Ha, not really, this is just a group of cell phone antennas clustering around the 100-foot up this large tower. The halo at the top of the tower is empty which means that the tower owner(s) are asking too much money per month to rent space up there for different communications needs, or, the tower’s location is not compatible with the needs of companies’ needs in the area. Cell antennas are not usually mounted very high on towers as part of limiting the range of each cell. It’s complicated technical stuff. I used to own a 220mhz ham radio repeater years ago in Michigan, I have decades of exper ..read more

Extreme Exposure

Or, perhaps extreme exposure, this image was made on the iPhone 15 using an app called SimplyBW. That app is strictly for working with black and white images. The app does not link to the phone’s camera, it can only modify photos you’ve taken. This is my living room looking very bright. Sunny and 83 degrees today, perhaps a bike ride is in order ..read more

Are Ya Tired of My Backyard?
Las Vegas Photo Blog

Sorry for this, the truth is that I haven’t been out and about for new material recently other than a joyride yesterday. I went to the hardware store and the grocery store a bit ago, when walking between the two stores, I had to walk between two young employees having a break on the sidewalk while smoking their skanky cigarettes. I waved my hand left and right of my face and said wow that stinks! One gal said ‘You could have walked around’. That would make no difference since we are outside and the smoke will easily go those extra three feet. Why do some smokers have such disrespect for non-sm ..read more

Making Concrete In The Sky

In the sky, if you are looking east as in this photo, behind you are mountains. Or, foothills actually. I saw a program last night about mountains that said a mountain is ground that is 2000 feet high or taller. Sunny and 88F today, a bit cooler than yesterday. The mountain you see on the right side of the image is Frenchman Mountain, also known as the Great Unconformity. The summit can be accessed by a road on the east side of the mountain which services the many transmitters up there ..read more

Making Cement In The Desert

Just two more clicks from yesterday afternoon, much of the cement for the construction of the 215 freeway in this area came from this plant located barely west of the freeway on higher ground. I have been thinking lately about what I could do to add some different content to this blog and haven’t come up with anything. Apparently, my creativity doesn’t expand much beyond cameras… If you have a suggestion please do leave it here ..read more

At Lone Mountain Road on the 215 freeway, you get a great view of the Las Vegas Strip to the southeast of you. Lone Mountain is just that, a short 600-foot tall mini mountain standing alone and is a favorite climb for the locals. I have never been to the top because of my health but I’ve tried! The photos I’ve seen from the top are very beautiful. Learn more about Lone Mountain right here ..read more
