It's January 11th 2021. I try not to follow the cliché New Year’s resolution “NEW YEAR NEW ME” mantra. I’ve always thought “Why wait for the new year? Why not tomorrow, or next week, or next month?” But here I am! Readying myself to start a new running challenge, following the millions of humans who wait until January of the new year to start a health goal. I haven’t run in almost 4 months. During the Spring and Summer of 2020, I was on a steady10K training plan. It’s been a goal of mine to run a 10K. I wanted to do it in 2020, but…COVID… So I told myself I’d start training to prepare for when ..read more

New moms can often get overwhelmed by all the tasks that need to be done on the day to day. Between juggling work, the baby, the dogs, and/or the husband; most of the time something has to give, and usually it’s the little time moms have for themselves. It is so important that moms carve quality time for themselves after having a baby, the social, chemical, and psychological changes that are associated with having a child can cause serious issues. DISCLAIMER: ALL OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES PLEASE MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW 6 FEET APART GUIDELINES AND DONT FORGET YOUR MASK IF NEEDED 1. Have a picnic at the park When we lived in Atlanta, Piedmont Park was like a second home. We'd plan every weekend taking a trip to our pantry, packing up some lunch whether it be peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or leftover dinner from the night before, grabbing our blanket, and head to the park to relax. 2. Go on a Walk I love going on walks. Ron and I (now with Melo) would find the nearest trail and just go walking. I love fresh air. 3. Family Game Night Even thou ..read more

On average, Millionaires have 7 incomes, while the Middle Class have only 1 - Their Job Recently I've had discussions with friends and family about the lack of financial guidance that we all received growing up. Growing up in a family of Haitian immigrants, my parents didn't know much about multiple incomes, finances, or 401Ks. They worked really hard with the information that they were given and they tried to pass that info down as they learned it. Unfortunately for my siblings and I, that info wasn't really useful when crossing the threshold into adulthood. We were left to figure it out our ..read more

“It was civil disobedience that won them their civil rights.” ― Tariq Ali I can't watch any videos. I refuse! I’ll relay the message but I can't repost the videos. I can't imagine my last breath or that of my father, brothers, nephews, or husband to be recorded and displayed as a spectacle to fuel someone's agenda; be it positive or negative. My heart weeps. I have no clue what to do. I am truly scared. I give a prayer every morning and night thanking God that the men in my family are safe; that the boys in my family are ok. Living in a society where a man can go into a church prayer group an ..read more

Do We Really Have Time To Raise Kids?

Raising children is a luxury that we take for granted During a conference call last week, a man from our European team was trying to speak but could barely deliver one word because he kept getting interrupted by his son yelling "Papa, Papa". At some point during the call, we hear a loud clamor from his son shouting vehemently. He yells something in a foreign language, then hurriedly off the call placing us on mute. He came back on the call and explained that his youngest son just took his first step and the oldest son was trying to get his attention. During lunch, I met Ron in the kitchen and ..read more

No one should have more power to make you feel something about yourself than you. , In my day job, I am a Sr. Data Engineer (make sure you say the senior), I build databases and systems for companies. My field is extremely male dominated. In all of my 8 years working in my field, I have had only two other women on my team with the same role as me. I worked hard to get where I am but sometimes I can't help think, how the heck did I get here? The other day I had a discussion with my brother, I was telling him how sometimes I wonder why was I chosen for my role. I have never used the tools that m ..read more

"On my path to see the light sometimes my vision gets blurred It's all a part of growing up and seeing life at it's worst" - Ludacris As I bid adieu to the final year of my 20s, I reflect on the past decade, and though it has brought me some amazing highs, it also came with some crushing lows. These past 10 years were no walk in the park, there were definitely things I wish I had done or knew during my 20s that would have made my journey a whole lot smoother. But, I can’t change the past, all I can do is live, learn, and move forward with new life lessons. However, If I could go back in time t ..read more
