Have you watched the rare moto vid 'Flipped Out'? No? Well, there's a good reason for that. Not many people have! But this week Clint Esposito and I were given super secret access thanks to Paul Taublieb, Executive Producer from Taublieb Films to watch one of the most in-depth videos discussing the first Backflips landed in Freestyle Motocross! From Carey Hart's lead-in to Gravity Games in 2000 and the controversy of 'did he land it', to Caleb Wyatt coming out of the woodwork to stomp the first flip where he rode away from it and then Mike Metzger taking it to the next level only a short tim ..read more

2006 was Travis' near sweep of X Games! FMX, Best Trick, Rally and first Double Flip. TBT w/ Clint Eposito
Riders Lounge Podcast
by Steve Sommerfeld

Here it is! The throwback to 2006 when Travis Pastrana only managed to do one FMX run, and it was enough to win on the same weekend that he landed the Double Backflip in Best Trick only one or two nights earlier and then took a Gold medal in Rally as well! Only 5 riders made it to the final for Freestyle MX which is probably more on account of the gnarly course given and the wind in the background. There were plenty of injuries and drama going into this and plenty coming out of it! With Travis Pastrana, Jim McNeil, Adam Jones, Mike Mason and Mat Rebeaud. Tune in to hear the companion discussio ..read more

It's crazy to think but in 2007 at X Games Best Trick, it was the first time we had ever seen Kyle Loza at X Games, and he came with a trick that nobody had ever landed. The Body Varial called a 'Volt' which he obviously named. Loza went on to create the Electric Doom and Electric Death and also the first rider to attempt the Bike Varial which has only ever been landed by Tom Pages. But this Throwback Thursday was a big one. 2007 X Games Best Trick was one of the gnarliest in history with Scott Murray attempting to land the second ever Double Backflip at X Games after Travis Pastrana landed ..read more

Where did Metz and Link go? TBT Live / FMX Riot 2 (Swingarm City)
Riders Lounge Podcast
by Steve Sommerfeld

As we get into the middle of the FMX Riot series of Freeride competitions wayyy back in the old days on this weeks Throwback Thursday live viewing, we were expecting to see a big return from Mike Metzger and as far as Clint Esposito and I were aware as we were watching it live, Metz was on top! But to our surprise and probably that of everyone, Metz upped and left before the last day of competition, and Larry Linkogle even did a sneaky exit as well. Leaving the battle between Dustin Miller and Mike Mason for the win. There was so much in this next addition of FMX Riot with new riders and a n ..read more

This weeks Throwback Thursday Live companion was a huge one with the first ever FMX Riot 1 competition held in SoCal featuring some of the biggest names in FMX, Motocross and Freeride! Clint Esposito and I step back in time when Freeride MX competitions were as rare as hens teeth but with riders who were ready to dominate the landscape they were given. FMX Riot 1 was held in 2 different locations of Glamis sand dunes and Ocotillo Wells (with 2 different days of competition there as well) In this Riders Lounge Podcast episode, this is after we watched the video and had our discussion on what we ..read more

2023 was a huge year for King of the Whip and not just because more overseas riders made their way down to a very warm South Africa for the Best Whip themed competition. But returning to Montecasino after last years massive event, it was going to be tough to beat the vibes from the first time it went on the big stage in the centre of Johannesburg. And of course, LW Mag and Ryan van der Spuy knocked it out of the park! A fully sold out show, an extra 1,300 people were allowed into the venue from last year and made it even more special! I was privileged enough to be the Host of the show for t ..read more

Sheeny on the humble apple. And the Triple Flip
Riders Lounge Podcast
by Steve Sommerfeld

Here's a quick interview which was planned for 5 minutes during the break at the Supercross de Lyon show in 2022 and has not been released until now. Yes, it's a little late but still everything is completely relevant. Especially on how much I learned about apples, cider and wine. And finding out which is the best apple for each of the jobs. Sheeny also talks about watching Jayo Archer and Harry Bink land the Triple Flip at Nitro World Games in Brisbane where both guys did something we didn't think possible and now the Triple is able to be done outside of the gnarliest environment where we sa ..read more

We're back with another Companion Podcast! This is designed to be watched in companion with the Red Bull Imagination 4.0 full competition video on YouTube if you really REALLY want to follow along. If you don't have time, this is way easier and hopefully funnier when I joined Clint Esposito on his show to watch the competition for the first time and give our 2 bobs worth on it. Which is about all our opinion is probably worth. So what is Red Bull Imagination? Well, it's Tyler Bereman's baby with Red Bull, out in the middle of Kansas building some of the wildest jumps we've ever seen! This year ..read more

If you haven't heard about the The House of Dancing Water in Macau, then you've missed one of the longest running FMX shows in the world! And Josh Grindrod turned out to be one of the longest running riders there. With THOUSANDS of shows... not joking, thousands, the riders who went to the 'Special Administrative region of China' ended up riding shows every single day in a casino with the best health care, best parts for your bikes, new bikes every 60 hours or so. It is the gig to end all gigs. If you can handle living in China for 2 years minimum. Run by the Cirque du Soleil, one of the world ..read more
