Students at Hartford Union High School got a brief scare Friday morning when a staff member accidentally pushed an ALICE WAVE button used to notify local police of a violent intruder.  Once confirmed it was an accident the principal went on the school intercom system to communicate the button was pushed by accident.   The superintendent says classes  continued as normal, and District  leadership team went throughout the building checking on students and staff,  apologizing for the accident, and answering any questions they may have ..read more

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services  has confirmed a case of measles in an  individual living in Dane County.  According to DHS the person traveled to Rock County for employment.   DHS, in coordination with Public Health Madison & Dane County and Rock County Public Health, are working to identify and notify people who may have been exposed to the measles virus. The Fond du Lac police chief says it’s fortunate nobody was seriously injured in a domestic incident that resulted in a chase and the suspect’s car crashing on a golf course.  The incident started Monday afternoon when police responded to a report of a man destroying property and physically assaulting a woman in an East Merrill Avenue home.  Police Chief Aaron Goldstein says a pursuit on Fond du Lac Avenue was terminated when the suspect vehicle left the road and drove across a grassy area near Fond du Lac Christian School.   The vehicle was later found crash ..read more

The Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association is launching a new web-based program to help teach safety while driving in work zones.  Association spokesperson, Lane Kimble, says Work Zone Safe Wisconsin is an effort to overhaul and vastly improve safety for everyone.  Kimble says the program is a web-based driver education platform teaching the basics of navigating a work zone safely through personalized stories, videos and anecdotes.  Last year nine people were killed and more than 700 people were injured in work zone crashes in Wisconsin.  Students who suces ..read more

Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a Culver’s Restaurant in Fond du Lac. Shortly before 2am Friday firefighters were called to the West Pioneer Road Culver’s to find smoke showing from the roof. Crews were met by a construction company and opened holes in the ceiling to quickly extinguish the fire.  The fire caused smoke and water damage. Democratic U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin has called on the United States Department of Agriculture to take immediate action to contain the ongoing avian flu outbreak in dairy cattle.  On Tuesday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that the virus has been found in pasteurized milk.
