NEW YORK (AP) — In opening statements in Donald Trump's historic hush money trial, prosecutors said Monday that the former president “orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt” the 2016 presidential election.
Defense attorneys countered, calling Trump “innocent” and saying the Manhattan district attorney's office “should never have brought this case.”

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Fallen Lieutenant Deputy Michael Hoosock's will be laid to rest today, April 22.
The deputy's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at the News York State Fairgrounds, but NewsChannel 9's coverage will begin at 10 a.m.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – The City of Watertown’s Department of Public Works crew will be performing sewer work on Starbuck Avenue starting Monday, April 22 at 8 a.m., work is expected to be completed by the end of the day.
The westbound lane will be closed from the Pearl St., West Main St., Starbuck Ave intersection to Tilden St. throughout the duration of the work.
Public Works crews will follow standard protocol to establish traffic control by installing temporary barricades, signage and having on-site flagmen throughout the project.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York lawmakers have passed the 2024-2025 state budget. The state Assembly and Senate enacted the nearly $237 billion spending plan after final deliberations on numerous state bills on Saturday.

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (WPIX) – The man who set himself on fire outside the New York City courthouse where former President Donald Trump is on trial has died, authorities said.
The man, identified by police as 37-year-old Max Azzarello, was declared dead by staff at a hospital Friday night, according to the NYPD.
Azzarello had walked into Collect Pond Park in Lower Manhattan around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, opened a bookbag, and threw pamphlets containing conspiracy theories into the air, according to NYPD Chief of Department James Maddrey.
