“ ”.... This random & sugary sweet compliment came on the heels of my not so great day. From the outside looking in my day seemed great. Lunch with my friend, groceries before the snow storm, a little treadmill action while watching the snow fall arrive...but something was stirring in me emotionally that I couldn’t put my finger on. My daughter, about to turn 14, has unearthed some stuff deep down that I didn’t know I had in there...or had pushed away. 14 was rough for me. My first taste of female medical issues along with a whole slew of bad influences made for a little girl with big stuf ..read more

I was talking to my rockstar friend the other day (tune in to our next Podcast at No Stage Lights when we chat about all of the crazy ways the universe has led us to amazing people to find out how our story goes ....you won’t want to miss it) She was telling me that she is “so nervous she could puke” while chatting about the upcoming release of her brand new book “Beckie’s Best Kept Secret” (again...you won’t want to miss this book release either!) and I quickly replied, between bites of avocado toast... ”If it doesn’t make you want to puke then it’s probably not worth it” Whoah. Did I just qu ..read more

I watched the Super Bowl on Sunday. Have you ever watched a losing team high five the winning team? All in a row? High five after high five after high five? You think that shit isn’t hard? It’s gut wrenching. I’ve watched people who I love win big wins while I’ve cried tears of joy for them and tears of pain for myself. I’ve felt a lump of envy and jealousy and defeat freeze solid in my chest while smiling and congratulating someone who whole heartedly deserves the recognition while wondering if I’ll ever be seen. I want these words to come at you gently but fiercely....you can still cheer som ..read more

Shake It Up

Even the oat milk settles once in a while We all do at some point, for some length of time. Some of us forever, some of us for a little while. It’s only natural! We get used to certain things and even if those things no longer serve we just sort of....settle. I wish I could yell this (in the kindest way possible) IF YOU DON’T LOVE YOUR LIFE YOU CAN CHANGE IT. We have to shake it up once in a while. We have to shake well. Mix it up, get out from underneath the things that are heavy and start rising to the top. We might shake up a whole lotta stuff...it might feel chaotic but sometimes it’s cruc ..read more

For those of us (notice I said US because yoooo....I need this lesson too) who sometimes forget How far we’ve come How much work we’ve done It’s not our time, it’s God’s time Growth takes time after the seeds are planted There will be obstacles Sometimes it takes a long long time but it’s so so worth it To never ever give up See exhibit A. Twelve years ago. TWELVE. A dozen years. Over a decade. XII. You guys....It took me twelve years from the time I decided to write a book to the time that I was able to hand it to you.... The crazy part is had I written the book then, so much of my journey ..read more

Let’s get one thing straight right off the bat. I am not talking about sacrificing your comfort for others. I fold my hands and pray with a heart full of hope that you are the kind of human who would give the shirt off of their back for someone and who would gladly stand in the rain to keep someone else dry. I am talking about the years and years and years that I have personally sacrificed my own comfort, in my very own skin to be sure someone else isn’t uncomfortable because I have lived forty two years in fear of offending someone who is making me uncomfortable because what if I am Misunder ..read more

If the shoe doesn’t fit....

Well that escalated quickly. My husband and I started having a conversation about politics and that conversation lead to another conversation about being uncomfortable. I may not be passionate about politics but I am passionate about reminding myself and teaching others to never sacrifice their comfort level in a situation. We aren’t meant to fit in everywhere. That is why every single part of who we are is unique. There will never be another you. We can’t conform into what others find comfortable and that is ok. I believe that we have been taught for many many years that we need to try and fi ..read more

It’s a bird...it’s a plane....it’s YOU... flying through the sky, wings spread, ! Ok... maybe we can’t fly but did you know that you have a superpower ‍♀️? Yep! That’s right! Your superpower is this (lean in...let me whisper this in your ear) ....don’t give that secret away because someone, somewhere will try and be your kryptonite. Clark Kent didn’t go around telling everyone what he was capable of. He was just bad ass enough to use it when he needed it and looked smokin’ hot in tights. Prettyyyyy much like you, friend. You see...it’s there, inside of you. I wish I could scream TRUST ME witho ..read more

Feel that tightening in your stomach? You know the one.....the churning, the jumpiness, the pit. ’ - . Removing whatever is stealing your peace is not going to be walk in the park. I compare it to getting your appendix out. Let’s discuss.... One day you wake up and you’re sick. Something inside of you is inflamed and about to fill your body with infection. You’ve lived with it for this long with no issues...but suddenly something that you didn’t give a second thought to has turned on you. It’s time to say goodbye to your “appendix” so you rush to the hospital and they prep you for surgery. Eve ..read more

The Apple Dishes

I admit it. I’m sentimental. I hold onto things and memories and cherish them deeply. I am in love with the history behind the things that I display and use in my home and will walk you around and tell you all about them, a trait I gladly adopted from my Memere (My Grandmother) That’s why I want to share the story behind these apple dishes with you this Thanksgiving. When I was nineteen and expecting my son I had little to nothing when starting out. A few hand me down pieces of furniture and my childhood bedroom set was about it. I was learning to cook and loved it...which meant many trips to ..read more
