Gayle Anderson reports the Nixon Library hosted the second largest celebration of National Vietnam War Veterans Day in the country, only surpassed by the gathering at the National Vietnam War Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Today’s event was held on the fiftieth anniversary of the last combat troops leaving Vietnam on March 29, 1973. The new monument depicts a U.S. Marine running through the jungles of Vietnam in 1971 – 1972. The research and creative process for designing the Vietnam Veterans Monument started in August 2022 when the Nixon Foundation formed a committee of Vietnam Veterans, a Gold Star Family member from the Vietnam War, artist Ron Pekar, and members of the Nixon Foundation senior staff. Crews search for Orange County man who disappeared during hike

Crews are searching for a critically missing Orange County man last known to be hiking in Carbon Canyon Regional Park on Friday morning. Jeffrey Morton, 63, left his Yorba Linda residence around 2:30 a.m. and has not been heard from since, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Morton’s wife says he typically goes hiking in the Brea park every day at 2:30 a.m. and returns home around 8 a.m.  His vehicle, a white 2004 Acura MDX SUV, was found parked on the corner of Brea Hills Drive and Carbon Canyon Regional Park, authorities said. A teen suspected of driving under the influence and speeding when he struck a tree in Yorba Linda is facing multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter, officials said Friday. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Noah Watson of Yorba Linda, was traveling at speeds of 100 mph in his Ford F-350 pickup when he hit the center median on Yorba Ranch Road and then crashed into a tree on Dec. 16, the Orange County District Attorney's Office said. Orange County commercial building engulfed in flames

Crews tackled a large fire engulfing a commercial building in Yorba Linda on Friday night. The flames were discovered in a commercial building in the 22800 block of Savi Ranch Parkway a little after 5 p.m., according to the Orange County Fire Authority. Around 80 firefighters responded to the three-alarm structure fire, where heavy smoke was seen billowing from the building’s rooftop. One person was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Thieves got away with thousands of dollars worth of jewelry after ransacking a home in an upscale Yorba Linda neighborhood last week. A woman died when her vehicle slammed into a tree in front of a church in Yorba Linda early Sunday morning, authorities said. The crash was reported around 12:40 a.m. in the 1800 block of Yorba Linda Boulevard near Summit Drive. An Orange County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized after a patrol vehicle overturned Sunday night. The crash was reported shortly before 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Yorba Linda Avenue and Avenida Rio Del Oro, Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Carrie Braun said. The deputy was responding to some type of emergency call and lost control of the vehicle, which rolled over, Braun said.
