I get asked all the time about these new sober holidays or dry campaigns popping up like Dry January. Everyone is probably familiar with Dry January but did you know there’s Sober October, Sober September, and Dry July? And my short answer as a former drinker is I’m always in favor of taking a break from alcohol if you’re drinking on a regular basis. Before I chose a sober life, moderation was the goal. I just wanted to get to a point where I could drink a little but frequently enough to imbibe during any and all occasions of my choosing. I now like to refer to this is as controlled social drinking because that’s what overdrinkers are really after…controlled. social. drinking.
