The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is holding a public information meeting as part of its Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for the Southport Connector Expressway, a proposed 15-mile expressway connecting Poinciana Parkway to Florida’s Turnpike and Canoe Creek Road. Liberty High School in Osceola County is on lockdown after a student threatened to bring a gun to school, according to sheriff’s deputies. Authorities say the  student suspected of making the threat is in custody. Osceola County Sheriff[’s Office was called around 10 am to Liberty High School on Pleasant Hill Road near Kissimmee. Florida Highway Patrol is on the scene of a fatal crash that took place this morning at 5:15 am on Poinciana Blvd. and Crestone Road and involved two vehicles. One driver was pronounced dead on the scene and two others were transported to the hospital. This is an active investigation and we will update when more information becomes available. A 30-year-old man was killed in a crash in Poinciana on Monday just before 4 pm, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash took place near Marigold Avenue and Poinciana Parkway. According to FHP, the man was driving a sedan westbound on Marigold Avenue when, for an unknown reason, traveled off the road and struck a utility pole. After hitting the pole, investigators said the car then struck a signpost. Investigators said the man later died at the Poinciana Medical Center. A 62-year-old Kissimmee man was fatally struck by a car early Saturday morning while attempting to cross John Young Parkway in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Liberty High School for the 14th time came out on the right side of the battle of the boulevard, 22-7 over the Poinciana High School Eagles. The Eagles flew high in the first half, highlighted by Jalen Jarret’s 30+ touchdown run and consistent defense. Before the halftime break, the Eagles attempted a 34-yard field goal to extend the lead, but Poinciana would have none of that and blocked their attempt.
