DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — The family owned food truck, Tennessee River Pirate, began as a logo for a boat flag and eventually became a community favorite. However, on Sunday morning, April 20, this family woke up to their business on fire. Just shy away from their five year anniversary, this business has made a lasting impression on their community. HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A local winner has been announced for the annual Congressional Art Competition. Congressman David Kustoff hosted a reception this evening to announce the winner. The art reception was held at the West Tennessee Regional Art center in Humboldt. This annual competition is a nationwide effort by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize and encourage the artistic talent across the nation. (AP) — Tennessee’s GOP-controlled Statehouse on Thursday gave their final approval to legislation criminalizing adults who help minors receive gender-affirming care without parental consent, clearing the way for the first-in-the-nation proposal to be sent to Gov. JACKSON, Tenn. — Kids and Car Safety, a national nonprofit organization, is dedicated to saving the lives of children in and around motor vehicles. According to information the organization shared on Wednesday, April 24,  A father in Memphis left his 1-year-old daughter in the car. Moments later, the car was stolen while the child inside. JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson budget committee held a meeting to discuss plans for the 2025 year. Members met at city hall to discuss anticipated expenses such as 100-thousand increase in premium. Dental insurance will go up by 3 percent with no changes in vision. Staffing salary for city workers was also discussed in the meeting. Staff workers are expected to receive a pay raise.
