CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KDVR) — For the past two years, Castle Rock has seen a decrease in crime, especially in the number of car thefts.
According to the latest report from the CAPTA Metropolitan Auto Theft Task Force, crime is down in Castle Rock. The Castle Rock Police Department reported a 39% decline in criminal offenses in 2022 from 2021.

DENVER (KDVR) -- Some Colorado residents are now trying to join a class action lawsuit filed against several property management companies, accusing them of artificially inflating rent prices here, and across the country.
The renters brought suit against some of the largest property management companies in the nation.
Six of the companies named in the lawsuit have properties in Colorado:

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KDVR) — A herd of cows wandered into Castle Rock’s Cobblestone Ranch neighborhood Wednesday morning to graze.
About 10 cows were spotted in the subdivision. They posed for photos while munching on freshly manicured lawns.
“We saw them out there in the field,” Terry Marshall said. “And then the next time I looked, they were right here in my yard.”
Neighbors tell FOX31 there are frequent wildlife sightings in the area that typically include species like turkeys, bears, elk and deer. Cows are a first.

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KDVR) -- It continues to happen: wildlife getting entangled in ropes, tires, and other outdoor gear. Right now a buck is wandering Castle Rock with a rope tangled in its antlers.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers said the rope is not inhibiting the deer's ability to eat, breathe and walk.

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KDVR) — There's a saying at Master's Apprentice in Louisville, where 21-year-old Dustin Wakefield learned his trade several years ago.
"Don't die average," said Paul Kelly, Dustin's work mentor. "That man did not die average. That's what we've been saying for awhile. It's on our shirts."
Kelly now knows his lessons sunk in.

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KDVR) -- UPDATE (6:45 p.m.) The Castle Rock Police Department said a reported suspicious incident involving a child "was a case of mistaken identity and no crime occurred."
Police located the pickup truck involved in the reported incident and spoke with the driver.
"There is no threat to the community and we are no longer seeking information on this case," the department said in a tweet.
