CHICAGO (CBS)– Carvana got approval to build a 14-story glass tower to dispense and showcase cars in Skokie, despite opposition from neighbors and nature lovers. Neighbors packed into a village meeting Monday night and lined up for their turn to speak against the site, which will be built alongside a nature preserve just west of the Edens Expressway. NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. (CBS) — The body of a missing 6-year-old boy who has not been seen since being driven with his older sister to a party in Skokie has been found, according to authorities. North Chicago police were working with Skokie police and the FBI in the search for Damari Perry. The body was recovered near an abandoned house in the 700 block of Van Buren Street in Gary, Indiana. CHICAGO (CBS)– A bystander was shot during an altercation in Skokie Thursday night. Police said there was an altercation near a building at 4558 Oakton Street around 9:35 p.m. A man sitting in a vehicle parked in the area and not involved in the altercation was shot in the arm. (CBS) — One person was injured early Wednesday, when someone in an SUV involved in a carjacking attempt in north suburban Lincolnwood opened fire on another car in nearby Skokie, causing the victims to crash into an elementary school. CHICAGO (CBS) — A young man was killed, and four others were injured in a single-vehicle crash late Sunday night in Skokie. A speeding SUV slammed into a tree near Main Street and East Prairie Road around 11:30 p.m. Dilan Durakovic, 19, of Skokie, who was a passenger in the car, died, according to Skokie police.
