SAN JOSE (BCN) – Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties will receive a combined $23 million to convert hotels into permanent housing units for homeless residents, the governor’s office announced Wednesday. The situation unfolded at the Mountain View Community Services Agency, which provides services to low-income households, homeless people, and seniors, at 204 Stierlin Road. MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) — Authorities Wednesday morning recovered a 5-month-old baby girl abducted from the child’s custodial father’s Mountain View apartment the evening before by her mother. According to Mountain View Police, the baby (named “Aitana”) was detained along with her mother, 21-year-old Veronica Lara Ramirez, and another person were detained at the Nevada border. According to a police statement, officers confronted the suspect on the night of January 28 on the 200 block of Infinity Way after a caller reported about a Lexus sedan associated with burglaries in the area and possible bicycle thefts in a garage. MOUNTAIN VIEW (BCN/CBS SF) — A person was struck by a Caltrain in Mountain View on Monday night, a spokesperson for the agency said. Caltrain has not released the condition of the person. Southbound train .132 struck an individual who was trespassing on the tracks between San Antonio Station and Rengstorff Avenue at 8:55 p.m., the agency said. MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) — Police asked for the public’s help Monday in finding two men who robbed a CVS store in Mountain View last week. In a Facebook post, Mountain View police said the robbery happened on March 10 at around 7 p.m. at the CVS on the 1700 block of Miramonte Ave. Two men jumped over the counter and forced the clerk to open the safe. The two took most of what was in the safe and ran out of the store, police said. MOUNTAIN VIEW (BCN) — Mountain View’s City Council this week approved more than $1 million in funding for the city’s new guaranteed basic income pilot program. The funding for the Elevate MV program approved by the council Tuesday will help provide $500 per month for 12 to 24 months for more than 160 families participating in the pilot.
