SAN JOSE (BCN) – Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties will receive a combined $23 million to convert hotels into permanent housing units for homeless residents, the governor’s office announced Wednesday. Santa Clara County will receive $16.7 million to support the county’s purchase and conversion of the Crestview Hotel in Mountain View into 48 housing units, according to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office. The situation unfolded at the Mountain View Community Services Agency, which provides services to low-income households, homeless people, and seniors, at 204 Stierlin Road. MOUNTAIN VIEW (BCN/CBS SF) — A person was struck by a Caltrain in Mountain View on Monday night, a spokesperson for the agency said. Caltrain has not released the condition of the person. Southbound train .132 struck an individual who was trespassing on the tracks between San Antonio Station and Rengstorff Avenue at 8:55 p.m., the agency said. In a Facebook post, Mountain View police said the robbery happened on March 10 at around 7 p.m. at the CVS on the 1700 block of Miramonte Ave. Two men jumped over the counter and forced the clerk to open the safe. MOUNTAIN VIEW (BCN) — Mountain View’s City Council this week approved more than $1 million in funding for the city’s new guaranteed basic income pilot program.
