Authorities responded to a Newport Beach home early Tuesday following a report of a shooting during a possible home invasion. The break-in was reported at about 4:45 a.m. at a residence on Newport Coast Drive between Ocean Ridge and Ridge Park. The caller reported that a resident shot one of the intruders, police said. The injured intruder and another person left the house. Officers searching nearby the home later found an armed man with gunshot wounds. A landslide on Thursday prompted Newport Beach officials to yellow-tag three homes, but there did not appear to be any damage to the residences. A man was hospitalized Wednesday after a shooter opened fire on someone in a Tesla in Newport Beach. Officers responded at about 12:30 a.m. to a Shell gas station in the 1600 block of Jamboree Road where they found a shooting victim. The Orange County Health Care Agency reported Sunday that the water around the Aloha Drive Bridge in Newport Beach is off limits to water sports enthusiasts following a sewage spill.
