With 97 measles cases in 17 states as of late March, Utah public health officials are warning of a measles outbreak in the state. The state closest to Utah that has recorded cases is Arizona. In all of 2023 there were 58 cases nationwide. Utah public health officials encourage everyone to check their immunization records because the MMR vaccine is 97 percent effective against measles when two doses are given. Measles symptoms appear 10 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. A rash with small red spots begins 3-5 days after other signs of the illness. Common symptoms include cough, high fever ..read more

HYRUM – Mountain Crest High School is preparing to host a Regional Water Polo Tournament on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20. The two-day aquatic event, sponsored by the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau, is expected to draw high school water polo teams from throughout northern Utah. LOGAN — A 40-year-old South Jordan man has been arrested for allegedly trying to meet up with a 9 year old girl in Logan to have sex, according to law enforcement. Joseph Thomas Dunlop was booked Friday, March 29, into the Cache County Jail after reportedly admitting to molesting a 1-year-old girl. According to an arrest affidavit, Dunlop began messaging the Logan City undercover officer on March 26. The officer was posing as the father of a young girl on an internet forum related to incest. SALT LAKE CITY — Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are set to release the first 12 hymns of a new hymnbook after six years of work reviewing thousands of submissions and gathering music from across the world. 12 hymns of the new “Hymns—for Home and Church” will be available on May 30, 2024. The UHSAA released the first of several RPI rankings to be revealed this week. This morning the baseball rankings were posted and Region 11 teams were not very well represented at the top as Bear River is the only team from the region to be inside the top 10 of the RPI. The Bears came in ranked fourth of the 24 teams in the 4A classification with Ridgeline at 13th, Green Canyon at 20th, Sky View at 23rd and Logan in the 24th spot. July 5, 1937 — March 28, 2024 (age 86) Larry Robert Keller, 86, passed away on March 28, 2024 at his home in Preston, Idaho, the same home he was born in on July 5, 1937 to Herman Wilford and Mary Evans Keller. Larry was the youngest of six children. Larry loved the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish and shared that love with his children, grandchildren, nephews and friends.
