UWL Gymnastics wins first home competition of the season

UW-La Crosse hosted Simpson College and Hamline University for a women’s gymnastics triangular competition. UWL had the highest total score winning the competition with 188.225 points. Simpson College took second at 179.850 and Hamline University finished with 175.950. The Eagles won three individual titles during the event. La Crosse native, and Central High School graduate, Caelen Lansing had a PR and took first place in the floor exercise scoring a 9.600. Campbell Police seek community’s help in finding missing 15-year-old

TOWN OF CAMPBELL, Wis. (WKBT) — Campbell Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a missing 15-year-old girl. Police said in a Facebook post that Jayden Halverson ran away from home at around 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Jayden is 5’6″ and weighs about 125 pounds. Her current hair color is red. She has a pierced eyebrow, two nose piercings and some small knuckle tattoos. Police said she should be wearing a black puffy winter jacket, black pants and winter boots. Mayo Clinic Health System gives advice on preventing colorectal cancer

LA CROSSE (WKBT) – Screenings for colorectal cancer are now being strongly encouraged. According to statistics released by the Mayo Clinic Health System, colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. Getting screened can help doctors identify cancer at an early age before symptoms develop, increasing a person’s chance to be cured. LA CROSSE (WKBT) – You probably use salt to melt ice on slippery sidewalks, but there’s more to it. Using too much salt can age roadways and sidewalks as well as damage rivers, lakes and drinking water. To prevent that damage, the City of La Crosse is launching its Salt Smart initiative for Salt Awareness Week. Campbell Library to host “Island Ecology Series” for all ages

Hmong Diaspora: A Spotlight Collection had its grand opening on Jan. 22. The celebration featured performances by the Hmong Community and Cultural Agency’s Youth Hmong Dance Group. DISCUSSION: Today was much like Saturday in a lot of aspects. We started off the day with some patchy fog which then quickly dissipated in the mid – late morning hours. Highs today remained in the mid to upper 20s and overall we stayed cloudy. As we head into the week, Mother Nature will throw us a mixed bag of goodies. ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — The Onalaska Education foundation held its 14th annual “The Taste” event at Stoney Creek Saturday. Restaurants from throughout the region catered, and people tried their hand at casino games to help support Onalaska kids.
