CHICAGO (CBS) — Arrest warrants have been issued for two men charged with stealing thousands of dollars in funds from two Pop Warner Little Scholars programs in Northwest Indiana.
Indiana State Police said they began investigating after funds were found missing from the accounts of the Northlake Pop Warner Little Scholars program in Hammond, and the Griffith Pop Warner Little Scholars program in Griffith. Pop Warner Little Scholars is a non-profit organization that provides youth football and cheerleading programs for children across the country.

A Hammond, Indiana man fought for nearly a year to get a grant that he was approved for after it went to a closed bank account. CBS 2’s Tim McNicholas went searching for answers.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Tons of snow is falling in Northwest Indiana, and while it’s keeping plenty of people busy shoveling sidewalks, Randy and his pup Cash are having fun in the flakes in Hammond.
CBS 2’s Marissa Parra met up with Randy and Cash on Wednesday as heavy snow was blanketing most of the Chicago area.
This is 11-month-old Cash’s first snowstorm, so she’s really excited to prance around in all the snow.
“It’s her first time seeing snow, and I love the snow. So I’m hoping she’ll enjoy it as much as I do,” Randy said.

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. (CBS) — Drivers were filling up their tanks, and snow plow companies were preparing for a busy 24 hours, with a winter storm bearing down on the Chicago area Tuesday night.
A winter storm warning began Tuesday evening for much of the area – including the city of Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
Snow will increase Tuesday night and become widespread over the advisory and warning area overnight. Heavy areas of snow will be likely, especially for areas south and southeast of downtown Chicago.

HAMMOND, Ind. (CBS) — A Hammond man will spend 18 months in prison after he lied about buying guns in Indiana and selling them to people in Chicago.
Darryl Ivery, Jr., 24, was sentenced by United States District Court Chief Judge Jon E. DeGuilio after pleading guilty to making false statements in connection with the acquisition of firearms, United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson said.
In addition to the prison sentence, Ivery will have one year of supervised release.

ST. JOHN, Ind. (CBS) — A baby was left submerged in a sinking car following a police chase in Northwest Indiana over the weekend.
The 8-month-old was pulled from the water with a toddler, and the officer who made the lifesaving rescue spoke out on CBS 2 Monday.
As CBS 2’s Tara Molina reported, the man and woman who led police on the chase were in custody Monday in Lake County, Indiana. The two children rescued were not in car seats, and the baby was underwater.

CHICAGO (CBS)– A car carrying children drove into a retention pond while fleeing police in Hammond, Indiana overnight.
The incident took place near I-80 and the Kennedy Avenue ramp after Lake County Sheriff’s police attempted to conduct two traffic stops near St. John.
An officer jumped into the pond and found the female driving seated behind the wheel and two children who were crying.
The driver was taken to the Lake County Jail and is facing charges.
