Shelly Hobbs, a Menifee resident and activist for public safety in the community, was honored Wednesday by the City Council as the Outstanding Citizen of the Month for April. Hobbs knows full well the importance of public safety, especially for school children traveling about the community. Her son was seriously injured while riding a bike near Bell Mountain Middle School. According to Hobbs, he would’ve died had he not been wearing a helmet. The facility, to be approximately 20,000 square feet, will be built on land given to the City of Menifee by Riverside County.
