For the second time in a week, a San Bernardino County restaurant was broken into by a group of thieves who escaped with over $30,000 in cash.
Surveillance video captured the theft at two locations of Brandon’s Diner — the Rancho Cucamonga location on Sept. 6 and the Upland location on Sept. 9.
On Wednesday, four thieves hit the Rancho Cucamonga restaurant on the 8600 block of Baseline Road around 4:40 a.m. They smashed their way inside and ripped out the safe using a drill, the owners said. They escaped with $30,000 in cash.
The break-in left a ton of damage for the owners.

A pair of would-be follow-home robbers who targeted an elderly couple Wednesday afternoon has been arrested, the Upland Police Department announced.
The culprits, 29-year-old Jacourie Ishlumati and 28-year-old Janelle Cunningham, followed the victims from a bank to the driveway of their home in the 2000 block of Shorewood Avenue, police said in a social media post.

An Upland man is facing a murder charge after he allegedly killed his cellmate in the West Valley Detention Center.
Marco Antonio Lopez-Hernandez, 26, killed Adam Adams, a 56-year-old from Upland, who was found a few minutes before 5 a.m. Sunday unresponsive on the floor of the shared cell, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
Despite lifesaving measures, Adams was declared dead, officials said.
Officials did not disclose how Adams was killed or any possible motive behind the attack.

A motorist was shot at multiple times while traveling on the 10 Freeway in the Upland area Monday night.
A call reporting the incident came in around 11:15 p.m., according to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson.
A motorist was apparently fired on while traveling on the westbound 10 Freeway between 4th Street and Mountain Avenue, the spokesperson said.
The victim managed to drive to a residential neighborhood in the 9000 block of Surrey Avenue near Arrow Highway in Montclair.

Upland police released these images of a mother who was eventually arrested for DUI on Nov. 17, 2022.
A mother was arrested early Thursday after being found passed out at the wheel of a car with her five children inside, Upland police said.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. when the car was spotted idling in the roadway, police said in a tweet.
The unidentified driver was found at the wheel, and her five children, who are between 1 and 5 years old, were asleep inside.
The mother was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment.

A man has been arrested after the Ford Mustang he was driving struck and injured a 62-year-old man walking across an Upland Street Thursday evening, then fled the scene, police said.
The victim was crossing at Euclid Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 7:11 p.m. when the Mustang hit him, according to the Upland Police Department.
The man was hospitalized and is expected to recover from his injuries, which police characterized as "serious" in a Twitter post.

An Upland man has been arrested after a person he sexually molested for years reported his crimes, according to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department.
Albert Trujillo, 55, was arrested Wednesday for lewd and lascivious acts with a child, police said in a news release.
He had been under investigation since March, when a female victim reported she had been molested by Trujillo between 2002 and 2008, the release said.
The victim, whose name and age have not been released, told investigators she was molested at Trujillo's former home in Lakewood and at a home in Rancho Cucamonga.

One person is dead and another was wounded in a stabbing in Upland Saturday morning.
The attack was reported just before 2 a.m., when the Upland Police Department responded to the 200 block of North Second Avenue, police said in a release.
At the scene, officers found two people suffering from stab wounds, both of whom were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
One of the victims succumbed to their injuries, while the other person was treated and released, police said.

Two men were arrested Friday in connection with a series of robberies at Southern California 7-Eleven stores that left two people dead and three wounded. Police said the men are suspected in another killing and other crimes in the region.

Inland Empire residents are seeing higher home prices, and the renters are feeling the pressure.
Henry Reyna, who rents in Upland, said it's been nearly impossible to afford to buy a home.
