State officials have revealed that an extensive repaving project will soon improve conditions on a busy stretch of a main route in Northern Westchester.  In an announcement on Friday, May 10, New York State Sen. Pete Harckham and Assemblymember Chris Burdick revealed a $6.5 million resurfacing and paving project has started on a stretch of Route 35. New York state lawmakers are considering legislation aimed at expanding the definition of drugged driving amid a rise in fatal crashes. A bill sponsored by Democratic Sen. John Mannion and co-sponsored by two Republicans would change the definition of “drug” in the vehicle and traffic law to include any substance or combination of substances that impairs one’s ability to drive. Authorities are searching for a 14-year-old suspect believed to have been involved in a stabbing that left a young boy hospitalized in Westchester. The incident happened on Tuesday, May 9, just before 4:40 p.m. in Mount Vernon, when a 13-year-old boy was stabbed in his left hip at 210 Gramatan Ave., city officials announced on Friday, May 10.
