VALLEJO — A united City Council this week reinstated its mask mandate for indoor public places. “Regardless of vaccination status, residents, workers and visitors must wear masks (face coverings) while indoors or in enclosed public spaces in the city of Vallejo,” a statement released by the city said. The council action was taken during a special meeting Tuesday and follows the Benicia council’s action for the same mandate in that city Aug. 24. SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Allegations that Sally Beauty Supply stores in Solano and more than three dozen other California counties improperly stored and disposed of products that pose a risk to the environment have been settled, it was announced Friday. VALLEJO (CBS SF) – A Sig Alert was canceled and all lanes reopened Sunday afternoon on Eastbound Interstate 80 in Solano County after a previous accident. Initially, three lanes of the freeway were closed after the accident, reported shortly before 11 a.m., east of American Canyon Road. VALLEJO, CA — The Vallejo Police Department recently expanded its unmanned aerial system (UAS) tech team to help streamline public safety efforts and provide officers with an efficient tool for solving and reducing crime. According to the department, the tech team is now equipped with five pilots that are trained and certified by the Federal Aviation Administration as unmanned aircraft pilots. SOLANO COUNTY, Calif. — Roads were closed in an unincorporated part of Dixon in Solano County on Tuesday as deputies investigated a suspicious death in the area, according to the sheriff’s office. Around 11:15 a.m., a deputy was flagged down by a person who reported a body in a ditch on Dixon Avenue West, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office said. Authorities are investigating the death as suspicious. Dixon Avenue West near Nunes Roads was closed for several hours due to the high law enforcement presence. NAPA COUNTY, CA — A 3.6-magnitude earthquake rattled Napa County early Thursday morning and was felt across much of the Bay Area. The quake hit at 12:36 a.m. and was centered 7 miles east and south of Angwin and 8 miles west of Lake Berryessa at a depth of 6.21 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. (KTXL) — A family visiting Vacaville from out of state was devastated after they said their rental car was broken into Tuesday morning and a backpack containing their brother’s ashes was stolen. “Mostly we’re just sad because we didn’t get to honor Tim’s final wish, which was to bring him home and lay him here with family,” said Kristal Horne. Horne made a promise to her brother, Tim Horne, before he died from cancer in January, that his family would come back to their hometown of Vacaville and scatter his ashes across his most favorite places.
