The Charlottesville DMV will delay opening Wednesday at 1pm as employees in the morning undergo enhanced safety training. A school bus crash in Appomattox County this morning injured four students and the driver.  Virginia State Police reported that though the injuries were minor, all the students and the driver were still transported to the hospital. The two-vehicle crash took place around 7:40 a.m. (Friday, May 3) at the intersection of Route 460 westbound and Peach Street. Mineral man killed in Louisa County crash

CUCKOO, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Mineral man is dead in a Thursday afternoon crash on Route 33 about 2 miles east of Cuckoo in Louisa County. State Police say 67-year old John Baysura was driving a 1994 Dodge Dakota west on 33 about 200-feet west of Apple Grove Road around 5pmwhen he ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree. ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A man is in custody and facing serious charges after allegedly setting an Albemarle County house on fire by crashing into it with a vehicle. ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County firefighters responded to reports of multiple brush fires in Biscuit Run Park on Thursday afternoon just after 3:30pm. When they arrived on the scene, they found between 25 to 30 individual brush fires that spanned several miles, just south of Interstate 64 between Route 20 and Route 631.  Three of the brush fires had spread to more than an acre. FREE UNION, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – An Albemarle resident has been displaced after an early morning fire destroyed their home. Firefighters were called to the 4000 block of Pelham Road near Free Union shortly after 6am. They got there about 10 minutes later and found visible flames. The home’s occupant had evacuated with no injuries.
