Picket lines emerged Monday morning at Daly City’s Seton Medical Center, where a two-day strike is underway for more than 400 workers. The union representing nurses, nursing assistants and housekeeping workers authorized the strike for better health care coverage. At least one person was injured after a runaway bus crashed in Daly City, officials said. The collision was reported just before 4 p.m. Thursday at Mission and Flournoy streets. Muni said the crash was due to a runaway coach from the top of the hill. No other cars were hit and the bus ended up on the median near Mission and Flournoy streets. Residents of a Daly City home were able to return after a fire there Friday evening, according to the North County Fire Department.  The department said it responded to the single-family home at 137 Serravista Avenue at around 9:36 p.m., bringing six fire companies, two chief officers and two fire investigators. A Daly City store owner pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges for shooting and injuring a robber using an illegally owned handgun earlier this week, prosecutors said. On Tuesday, two robbers took a Rolex watch off the wrist of Rocky David Eid, 50, who owns Sun Valley Dairy Market on Schwerin Street. An unidentified body was found Wednesday at Thornton Beach in Daly City, police said. Officers responded Wednesday at 1:38 p.m. to the area of Skyline Drive and Lynvale Court on a report that a deceased body was found on a nearby trail. Police said the remains were discovered by a hiker and appeared to be that of an elderly man who had been dead for an extended period of time. A ruptured gas line at a home in Daly City sparked a fire and prompted evacuations overnight Tuesday. North County Fire Authority officials say the rupture occurred at about 11 p.m. Monday outside a home on Gellert Boulevard near King Drive. No injuries were reported, but people in about half a dozen homes were evacuated and others were told to shelter in place. A canopy at a South San Francisco gas station collapsed late Wednesday due to apparent strong wind from a powerful storm sweeping through the Bay Area. The incident occurred at the Valero gas station near Callan Boulevard and King Drive. Several gas pumps are also damaged. There were no reports of injuries or leaks from the collapse late Wednesday. A broken water main caused a sinkhole that partially swallowed up a parked vehicle in a Daly City neighborhood overnight Tuesday. The busted pipe occurred at about 1 a.m. in the 400 block of Castle Street in Daly City. The ensuing sinkhole caused the sidewalk and part of the street to collapse and took a 2001 Toyota Sequoia SUV with it. The SUV sunk nose down, and a tow truck company said it was unable to pull it out.
