Welcome to February! Let’s kick off the month with Twice Sold Tales, a used bookshop in Minnesota that’s struggling. Harper inherited it, and is definitely overwhelmed. Trying to do the “Should do” list and losing her joy along the way. And Noah just discovered a son he wasn’t told about, and now he’s a single dad… But it’s fiction, so the big things get worked out before the end of the story. Stick around, and leave a comment before entering the giveaway. Who knows, you might win! The Newton Chronicles: Soldiers, Crystals and Temples intrigued me, so I signed up for the tour. A few days after the book came, my 9yo said “I want to learn more about Isaac Newton!” So we started this book, to get a taste. We learned a few things, had a ton of laughs, and every time I tried to stop reading, there was a very insistent “2 more chapters please!” so I’d call this an absolute win! Even the 4 year old sat still! Don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom of the post! About the Book Book: The ... Read More ..read more

Today, we enter a whole new world. Some of the dangers are far too familiar. But some are very unique and creative. As much as I enjoyed being a guest to Skyworld, I’m not sure I would want to live there. I’ll admit that I didn’t know what ‘steampunk’ was until this book. But it’s pretty cool. Victorian culture, steam-powered advanced technology, and a fascination with science. And I must say, this author hit the ball out of the park with her Christian Steampunk books! Ever wonder how to be a good housewife in today’s world? I mean, is there really a place for a traditional housewife in the 21st Century? I guess that really depends on your definition of a “good” or traditional housewife. The Bible has a lot to say about how to be a good housewife, and it doesn’t exclude having a productive job, or mean we can’t do a lot of things that tend to get bad press. Between Proverbs 31 and 1st Timothy 2, there is a lot of solid information on how to be a good housewife. Anyone who ... Read More ..read more

We all want the best for our kids, right? But sometimes that’s difficult. Since we know more is caught than taught, then figuring out how to build your kids devotional habit right, like most things, relies on your own personal devotional habit. and yet, we struggle with that too sometimes. God looks at the heart, because the Why is the most important part. The book list below is a tool. Many of us were not taught solid Christian stewardship. Money either wasn’t talked about, or was a point of stress, or some combination of mystery and mayhem. But Christian money management is important, and actually do-able if you are willing to learn something new and make a few new habits. It may be a challenge, but you’ll discover it’s totally worthwhile! So let’s take a few minutes to discuss what the Bible says about money, and then dive into some books that have had a great impact on my understanding, and Biblical stewardship/Christian finance habits. What is Christian Stewardship? Chri ..read more

Contentment. Satisfaction. At Peace. You keep hearing about Contentment in the Bible. About Contentment in life. You’re told to be content with what you have. But what exactly does that mean, and how do you get there? I read a book recently that really brought this concept front and center, and not because the characters were content. They weren’t discontented exactly, but they had an interesting take on the whole concept. That caused me to do some thinking and some research. So let’s look at this together. Contentment in the Bible Contentment in the Bible is more than just a ... Read More ..read more

Delicious Devotion is so very satisfying. There’s brokenness and healing, sadness and joy. I couldn’t put it down, read the whole thing one Sunday afternoon while the guys were watching some cowboy movie or other. I’m definitely proud of dad, for his role in the healing, and Scott, for overcoming multiple things that were very overwhelming. And Beth, well, she’s a gem, and I’m so grateful that she shared Gram with us!!
