A recent 60-day operation has netted the arrests of 10 men accused of sex crimes against minors, ranging from child pornography to online solicitation, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. The multi-agency Montgomery County Internet Crimes Against Children unit conducted a online chat operation and executed multiple search and arrest warrants, according to the District Attorney’s Office. St. Anthony of Padua welcomes new pastor

After 14 years as the head pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Father Tom Rafferty has been reassigned, and the church in The Woodlands will now be headed by Father Jesse Garcia. Rafferty was assigned by Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, the Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, to be the new Vicar for Clergy for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Garcia was chosen by DiNardo to become the new head pastor of St. Anthony and officially started on Sept. 1. The Grand Oaks High School class of 2021 has a lot to be recognized for. After surviving a global pandemic and a historic winter freeze all in the same year, this year’s seniors are the very first graduating class of Grizzlies. Last year, all Conroe ISD graduations were held at Woodforest Bank Stadium to allow for social distancing. This year, the ceremonies returned to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands. While researching Jupiter, a third grader at Discovery School of Innovation in The Woodlands discovered a NASA project she had never heard of before, the Europa Clipper. Soon after, her class was Zooming with a planetary scientist involved in the mission. Europa, one of Jupiter’s Galilean moons, is covered in a salty global ocean that contains more liquid than all of the oceans on Earth combined. Nearly 100 people celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Our Lady of the Angels chapel in The Woodlands on Saturday. The community gathered for the ceremony outside St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Bay Branch Drive in The Woodlands during the coronavirus pandemic, following mass, to mark the beginning of the long-awaited construction project. The new chapel will include a reliquary for 27 saints, including St. Anthony of Padua himself, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Elizabeth. A new market has popped up in Conroe near Magnolia. Event organizer Mary Middlebrook said the Oak Ridge Pop Up Market outgrew the Woodridge Plaza parking lot area, which led her to open the new Woodlands Square Market off FM 1488 on Saturday. “It was the perfect venue for it — the weather was great, there was a wide variety of vendors, and an eclectic atmosphere,” Magnolia resident Brian Lorio said. SUV crashes into police vehicles responding to wreck on I-45 in The Woodlands area

An allegedly intoxicated driver on early Saturday morning reportedly crashed into police vehicles responding to a wreck on Interstate 45 in south Montgomery County. After 1:30 a.m., a couple of Shenandoah Police units responded to a vehicular crash on I-45 near the Woodlands Parkway overpass in Oak Ridge North. The officers were there to provide traffic control, according to a City of Shenandoah press release. Houston Furniture Bank to give away bedding sets as charity effort

This is the second year Houston Furniture Bank has organized a bedding drive for the holiday season and it more than doubled what it collected last year. The bedding drive started last year to accompany the furniture bank’s No Kids on the Floor efforts, which aims to provide beds to kids in need. The organization was able to give away around 100 bedding sets last year.
