Operations & Maintenance crews are scheduled to begin flushing fire hydrants on Monday, May 6. Hydrant flushing is a way for crews to test the water flow and pressure in a hydrant so we know it’s ready for use, in case of a fire.
Hydrant flushing also removes sediment from the pipes in order to maintain water clarity and quality in the distribution pipes.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brooklyn Park Police Department will not be accepting walk-in Permit to Purchase applications until further notice. You must be a Brooklyn Park resident to qualify. There is a seven (7) day waiting period before a permit will be issued to qualifying individuals. The Brooklyn Park Police and Fire Departments have partnered with the Glenda Clayton Breast Cancer Toys for Tots Foundation. This foundation was started by Latrina Caldwell in 2014 in honor of her Aunt, Glenda Clayton. Brooklyn Park, MN – On November 13, 2019, at 06:29 a.m., Brooklyn Park officers were dispatched to the intersection of 65th Avenue and Zane Avenue on a report of a personal injury accident involving a pedestrian and a school bus. Responding officers located an adult male who had been struck by the school bus while riding a bicycle. The adult male was found to have passed away from his injuries while on scene. Brooklyn Park, (MN) – 10/15/2019 – Mayor Jeffrey Lunde announced today that the city has a new website that is more user friendly, clean and accessible to enhance user experience. Since 2017, the city has worked on a website overhaul to improve search function, make the site more engaging, easier to navigate and appealing to the eye.

Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Sept. 24, 2019 – Brooklyn Park Mayor Jeffrey Lunde has proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness month. The proclamation supports the city’s Human Rights Commission’s second annual purple light initiative to shine the light on domestic violence, an awareness effort that encourages everyone in the city to replace their outdoor lights with a purple lightbulb.

In 2011, the Brooklyn Park City Council adopted a Deer Management Plan that addresses concerns about the number of white-tailed deer in the community.
The plan balances deer population with their biological habitat and the tolerance level of residents.
The plan is for eight areas to be hunted again this fall, and the areas include:

Izaak Walton/Banfill Island
West Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park
