The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors established a pair of $20,000 reward offers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for vandalizing two cemeteries in Compton and Carson, stealing bronze plaques and memorial markers. A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was at the right place at the right time Saturday when he walked into a robbery in process at a Carson 7-Eleven. Four men were arrested after they stormed into a 7-Eleven convenience store on Avalon Boulevard. Surveillance footage showed three of the men jump the counter in an attempt to access the cash register. Moments later, a sheriff’s deputy walks in with some backup. A Manhattan Beach Police Department motorcycle officer was killed Wednesday in a multi-vehicle crash on the northbound 405 Freeway in the Carson area. The crash was reported at about 5:15 a.m. at Del Amo Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.  Officer Chad Swanson, 35, a 13-year veteran, died at a hospital, the police department reported. Officials today released the name of a 28-year-old woman whose body was found near an unused railroad track in Carson. The woman was identified as Shalynn Jones, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. A spokesperson could not be reached to determine Jones’ city of residence.
