Multiple firearms were found in a home in Riverside County after a 12-year-old middle school student allegedly threatened his classmates. Deputies responded to a reported threat at Jurupa Middle School at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. One person was killed and another was hospitalized after being shot while sitting inside their vehicles in Riverside County. The suspect was identified as Louis Hernandez by the California Highway Patrol. A wind-driven brush fire erupted near the 15 Freeway in Jurupa Valley, prompting officials to close the northbound and southbound lanes Thursday morning. The blaze, dubbed the Landon Fire, was first reported at 5:30 a.m. in the 11000 block of Landon Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Crews are battling a wildfire that erupted in Jurupa Valley on Wednesday afternoon. The Oak Fire was first reported in the 7100 block of Sierra Avenue around 2:02 p.m. according to the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department. Dozens of roosters were euthanized after a large cockfighting ring in Jurupa Valley was broken up Friday night, Riverside County officials said. Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies and Animal Services officers found 143 birds and more than 200 people when they arrived at the 5900 block of Troth Street, Animal Services spokesman John Welsh said in an email. A 5-acre brush fire burning in Jurupa Valley injured two people Friday, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The blaze was initially reported as a 1-acre fire at about 5:45 p.m., the Fire Department said on Twitter. The fire, which is located near Limonite Avenue and El Palomino Drive, was burning in a riverbed. Though it extended to the roof of a nearby Rite Aid, firefighters kept the blaze on the roof.
