York County is now reeling from the insane hail storm that pummeled the region Saturday afternoon. York County is about to open it’s newest park on the banks of Lake Wylie. The new 60-acre Thistle Park is located near Lake Wylie’s old Five Points intersection, near the intersection of Lake Wylie Rd. and Hand Mills Highway. The new park will feature a full disc golf course, picnic shelters, fishing areas, a 3-acre dog park, and over 3 miles of hiking trails. The Charlotte suburb of Tega Cay is finally taking action to address the area’s deer overpopulation (now estimated to exceed 1,000 deer). In yesterday’s city council meeting, they officially approved a plan to hire sharp shooters to eliminate 80 deer, projected to cost just over $60,000.
