DULUTH, Minn. — A local gardening business is expanding their offerings starting on Friday. Growing Duluth opened in September of 2023 originally selling growing supplies, house plants, and micro-greens. But they were always getting asked; are you going to sell spring plants? Lowell And Marshall Elementary Students Plant Over A Thousand Trees

DULUTH, Minn. — Some elementary students in Duluth made quite the impact on Friday. Kids were able to show off their green thumbs when they took on quite the project. Thanks to the efforts from both Lowell and Marshall schools, third through fifth graders planted over one thousand trees. This was led by UMD graduate Gavin Buersken. The end goal was to increase plant diversity, and to help forest restoration. Another important lesson was in mind for this event. SUPERIOR, Wis.- Both the UW-Superior baseball and softball teams will compete for the UMAC championship on Saturday. The lady Yellowjackets began the day by upsetting top seeded Bethany Lutheran, 5-4 in the semifinals. UWS will next face either Bethany Lutheran or Northwestern or Minnesota Morris on Saturday. First pitch is at noon. As for the baseball team, they would shut out Crown on Friday in the semifinals, 4-0. Superior will next play either Northwestern or Crown in the title game on Saturday. DULUTH, Minn. — Wild State Cider is launching a new take on one of their flagship drinks just in time for their anniversary party. Hazy Pink Pineapple Cider has now taken slushy form. The slushy is made with cider and tropical fruit including dragon fruit. The new drink will make its debut at Camp Wild State, the store’s 5th birthday party. MN DNR Recommends Safety Equipment When Fishing

MINNESOTA — As fishermen and women head out on the water this weekend, the Minnesota DNR is making sure people stay safe. The DNR suggests having the right safety equipment including an engine cut off switch and life jackets for each person. The engine cut off switch is recommended to be attached in case of an unexpected fall overboard. Life jackets are required by law to be worn by children under the age of 10. One Person Dead After Structure Fire In Village Of Superior

UPDATE (May 10, 12:05 p.m.) — The Superior Fire Department says one person is dead due to a structure fire early Friday morning. Crews were dispatched to the scene in the Village of Superior at 4:23 a.m. Fire was coming from a single car attached garage but later spread to the front of the single-story home. Authorities say a person was found in the home and despite lifesaving efforts the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The home sustained significant smoke and fire damage. DULUTH, Minn. — The future of Duluth’s multi-million dollar tourism marketing contract is being guided by a working group at the request of Mayor Roger Reinert.  And later in May, there are opportunities for businesses and the public to weigh in. This comes after Reinert’s announcement in March that he believes next year’s marketing contract should be awarded to local talent.
