ALTAMONT, KS — Labette County alum Easton Dean has received an invite to the Tennessee Titans rookie Minicamp per sources. In high school, Dean was a 3-Star Recruit by 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN. He played Quarterback for the Grizzlies. During his senior year he passed for 2,042 yards, 14 touchdowns and earned honorable mention All-State honors. He also rushed for 544 yards and 4 touchdowns. PITTSBURG, KS — The #9 Pitt State Gorillas and the #5 UCO Broncos squared off for what would determine the MIAA Championship. The Gorillas dominated and swept the Broncos winning game one, 10-2, in 5 innings and won game two, 5-2. GIRARD, Kan. — Some local first responders participated in a unique training exercise, today. It's grain engulfment rescue training - offered by the University of Kansas Fire and Training Institute - at the Girard Fire Department. It simulates a situation of rescuing a person entrapped in a grain bin. Several individuals volunteered to be trapped in a much smaller grain bin - while first responders used special equipment to get them out as quickly and efficiently as possible. MIAMI, Okla. — A Miami organization continues to honor the sacrifice of veterans - nationwide. Members of American Legion Post 147 held a groundbreaking - today - for a new veterans memorial brick garden that will be constructed on the grounds of the military museum. It will be a pentagon-shaped area - containing a flag for each branch of military. MIAMI, Okla. — A stretch of South Main Street in Miami was filled with creativity and a sense of community. The Ottawa County Arts and Humanities Council hosted its annual arts festival. MIAMI, Okla. — Students at Miami High School are stepping up to help one of their own. During an all-school assembly at Miami High School, students had a celebration and reveal for a 4th-grade girl battling cancer. Nearly a year ago - Sydaleigh Gideon had her femur replaced after being diagnosed with a type of bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. Her "Make-A-Wish" wish is to go to Disneyland.
