PITTSBURG, Kan. — Meadowlark 4th grade students are getting a bit of a cultural history lesson at Pittsburg's Books and Burrows. The young students got to view this new Native American mural, just behind the bookstore in downtown. Books and Burrows owner Darcie Schultz is part of the Peoria Tribe, and the new mural represents how the tribe was forced to leave their native land and migrate west to Kansas. The $6-8,000 piece of art was paid for through a grant from the Kansas Creative Arts Commission. JOPLIN, Mo. — Summer school is still weeks away for Joplin students -- but now is the time for parents to sign them up. Classes will run from May 29 to June 27 -- with the Olympics theme "Go for gold." PSU — An area university is installing dozens of pieces of life-saving equipment across campus. 62 automated external defibrillators, also known as AEDs, can now be found in each building at Pitt State as well as Block 22. Also new to campus -- 25 Narcan boxes. It's part of a collaborative effort between the university and the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.
