University of Kansas Takes Steps to Move NCAA Process Forward, Self Suspended Four Games

The University of Kansas informed the NCAA’s IRP (Independent Resolution Panel) last week that it was self-imposing several sanctions in response to its ongoing basketball case, which originated in 2017. The sanctions include: Four-game suspension for Head Coach Bill Self and Assistant Coach Kurtis Townsend to be served during the first four regular season games of the 2022-23 season. The absence of Self and Townsend from all off-campus recruiting-related activities for four months (April through July 2022). Kansas State Wildcats surge to No. 13 in latest AP Top 25 poll

The Kansas State Wildcats are the biggest riser of any team in the country in this week’s AP Top 25, shooting up nine spots from No. 22 5o No. 13 after their dominant victory over Oklahoma State on Saturday. Led by a strong effort from Will Howard, Deuce Vaughn and the defense, the Wildcats pieced together one of the most lopsided victories between ranked Power 5 opponents in recent years. Four of the 10 high school football teams in Shawnee County are headed to the regional round of the 2022 postseason following wins on Friday night. Washburn Rural is headed to regionals for the second year in a row after a 36-0 shutout victory over Dodge City at home Friday night. The Junior Blues will face Garden City, the No. 3 seed in the 6A West bracket, on the road this week. The only 5A team moving on from the area is Shawnee Heights, which held off Lansing 28-21 in Week 9 for its second win over the Lions this year.
