LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – A magnitude 3.4 earthquake shook Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga early Tuesday morning. March 22, 2022. (USGS) The earthquake struck at 3:33 a.m. about three miles east of the Ontario city center, five miles south of Rancho Cucamonga and 6.8 miles southeast of Fontana, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The epicenter was near Jurupa Street and Commerce Parkway in Ontario. It occurred at a depth of 4.5 miles. ONTARIO (CBSLA) — Police are searching for a shooting suspect who wounded multiple victims at an Ontario Inn. According to the Ontario Police Department, the shooting happened at about 4:30 p.m. at the Best Ontario Inn on the 1000 W. block of Mission Avenue. Police said three men were shot and transported to the hospital. The shooting occurred after two groups got into an argument. LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – A suspect wanted for a shooting death late Monday night in Ontario was arrested in North Hollywood following a high-speed pursuit. Gilbert Conorquie. Jan. 25, 2022. ONTARIO (CBSLA) — Police Wednesday were investigating after a short pursuit in Fontana ended with the suspects crashing in Ontario, killing both people inside the vehicle. The Fontana Police Department responded at 4:21 a.m. for a possible vehicle in distress near the train tracks on Slover and Calabash Avenue in Fontana. ONTARIO (CBSLA) — A man was killed after an encounter with officers from the Ontario Police Department. The incident happened at a Quality Inn at the corner of Vineyard and G Street. According to a guest, they could hear a woman screaming for help before officers intervened. “An officer knocked on my door and he said ‘Have you heard any gunshots or any screaming?'” said hotel guest Robbie Singleton. ONTARIO (CBSLA) — Strong winds and heavy rain uprooted trees in Ontario, one of which landed and crushed an apartment complex.  “It sounded like a freight train coming through,” said neighbor Diane Ramirez. “It was sitting in my car and the who car was shaking. It was just really intense.” Ontario Fire Department arrived to the apartment complex off J Street and Euclid Avenue to find the tree ripped out of the asphalt before falling onto the complex. RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA) — Marine Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola returned home to Southern California for the last time Tuesday. Merola, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga, was among the dozens killed in an Aug. 26 bombing at an airport in Kabul in Afghanistan. Two other Marines from Southern California – Lance Cpl. Kareem Grant Nikoui of Norco and Corporal Hunter Lopez of Indio – were also killed in the attack. The Marine’s body will be carried in a procession from Ontario International Airport scheduled to depart at about 5:45 p.m. to Forest Lawn Covina Hills.
